Report shows the UK is to run out of oil, gas and coal in five years

New research from the Global Sustainability Institute has found that Britain, France and many other European countries have low reserves of fossil fuels, and their home grown energy could be entirely reliant on imports in several years.

The study found that the UK has just 5.2 years of oil, 4.5 years of coal and three years of gas before it completely runs out of fossil fuels, said the researchers at the Institute based at Anglia Ruskin University, in the East of England. France is also in poor shape with less than a year’s worth of fossil fuels in reserve, and Italy has a single year of oil left and less than a year of gas and coal, but France unlike its southern neighbor generates almost 80 percent of its electricity from nuclear power.

In contrast Russia, with its huge landmass, has more than 50 years of oil, 100 years of gas and more than 500 years of coal. Norway also has extensive reserves of oil and gas under the North Sea - We can all see why the US is particularly keen to get to Russias borders.

Ministers have said that they hope to produce enough shale gas through fracking and that new reserves in the North Sea will prolong production there and plug the deficit. However, fracking is facing significant opposition within the country from locals and politicians and the North Sea would be out of bounds to the rest of the UK should Scotland decide to vote for independence in the referendum scheduled for this September.

Fracking company IGas to buy Dart Energy - the UK's largest licence, over a million acres!

IGas and Dart have both been hounded by community resistance over the last 6 months, IGas faced over three months of constant delays and closures at their Barton Moss site, Greater Manchester and was only capable of completing work due to £1.6+ million of policing.

Dart especially has been on the back foot, having been driven out of Australia, denied planning for their flagship Scottish operation and now face a permanent resident encampment in Upton, Chester. The only land in England on which they have full-permission to drill, So despite them trying to claim they are not interested in Fracking chester, It's only a matter of time before they try.

The licenses owned by both companies here: http://frack-off.org.uk/extreme-energy-fullscreen

BBC Under Fire For Spending £11m A Year On TV Licence Fee Letters!

The BBC has come under fire for spending over £11 million of taxpayers' money a year on printing and sending TV licence letters to households. The corporation revealed that it had sent around 55 million letters to unlicensed properties each year, equivalent to more than two letters a year for each household in Britain, in response to a Freedom of Information request by the Huffington Post UK.

The BBC receives most of its income, at around £3.7 billion!, from people paying the £145.50 annual TV licence fee in order to watch telievision live. The corporation said it sent reminders to unlicensed properties and sent paper copies of TV Licences as part of its "statutory duty" to ensure households have properly licensed televisions.

Second earthquake to hit the UK's smallest county!

A second earthquake rocked Britain’s smallest county today, sparking fears of a mini San Andreas fault deep beneath the region! Terrified residents of Rutland were shaken awake by a tremor – three time stronger than the 3.2 shock that hit the area 24 hours before, Read the story here. Millions of years ago a major fault may have run under Britain and that one day a magnitude six quake could strike, causing major damage. Britain’s largest recorded earthquake was in 1931 on Dogger Bank in the North Sea. It had a magnitude of 6.1.

Earthquake of 3.2 magnitude hits Rutland, UK!

Another earthquake in the UK yet again, This time in the countryside of Rutland. The earthquake although only small, 3.2 in magnitude and lasting around 10 seconds, Was felt up to 28 miles away!

BGS (British Geological Survey) said It has recorded 44 earthquakes around Britain over the past 50 days, but only one – in the eastern North Sea – of a similar magnitude. Several have been around New Ollerton in Nottinghamshire, where 91 small earthquakes, the largest of 1.8 magnitude, have been recorded since mid-December. That area has a history of seismic activity related to coal mining. "There have been no reports of structural damage from mining-induced earthquakes in the UK in the past 40 years" said the BGS, but an event of a 3.0 magnitude could be strongly felt and cause some alarm.

Fracking Companies Want to Force Landowners to Let Them Drill For Gas

An oil company is trying to use a state law in Pennsylvania to force residents to allow drilling on their land.  Hilcorp wants to drill for gas even if landowners don’t want to let them. The company is trying to use a 1961 state law that allows them to drill under property without explicit permission.

This is almost identical to whats happening in the UK, With ministers considering changing trespass laws to make it easier for energy companies to carry out fracking beneath people's homes without permission. The move comes amid concern that fracking for shale gas could otherwise be held back by lengthy and costly court proceedings (Against people protecting their land, water and air from these evil companies!).

The Government has repeatedly dismissed environmental concerns about fracking and backed proposals to drill down into large reserves of shale gas in rocks beneath the UK despite the fact that it will increase climate change, cause small earthquakes and pollute water supplies.

Obama Negotiating an Agreement That Could Unleash Fracking Around the World

You may remember a few months back Quebec, Canada imposed a moratorium on the exploration for shale gas in the St. Lawrence River valley after a Fracking company proposed to drill under the river! The bill would prohibit Fracking for five years or until new regulations on shale gas exploration are in place.

The Frackers are now suing Canada for $250-million (For protecting its citizens), as a result of Quebec's moratorium on fracking! The statement of claim filed Sept. 6 says the company "expended millions of dollars and considerable time and resources" on the project and that the Quebec government was "arbitrary" and "capricious" in revoking the rights even before an environment study on the fracking process was completed. The company estimates there are between 1.9 trillion and 3.3 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered natural gas trapped in the shale in the area covered by the suit, the equivalent of about half of Canada's total annual production.

Scenarios like this one could start playing out all over Europe and the United States if another trade deal, currently being negotiated, goes through. It would be the largest in the world: the transatlantic free trade agreement, knitting together the United States and Europe in a major trade network that could have massive repercussions on our environment (among other things) and lead to a fracking boom!

iGas gets permission to frack in Albert Square, central Manchester!

The facist fracking company iGas, currently packing up its exploratory well at the Barton Moss site, has been given the 'go-ahead' to drill for shale gas in Albert Square, the heart of Manchester City Centre!

Following a secret agreement, signed by Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council and Kate Chappell, Executive Member for the Environment, Fracking company iGas has been given the go-ahead to do everything it likes, up to and including pumping whatever chemicals it thinks it needs to in order to bring shale gas up from deep below the city streets.

Kate Chappell said “We see this merely an extension of the Council’s existing work on geo-thermal energy in Ardwick.  You drill a hole, you get energy, same difference.''!

She later went on to say ''Well, after looking at the projected state of our finances after the next £200m in spending cuts, we decided that the thorough and independent study conducted by iGas‘s in-house technicians was good enough for us. Even if it was written on the back of a fag packet.”!

The real intention: IGas finds shale at Barton Moss fracking site!

Despite iGas's original planning application to drill 2 exploratory boreholes for CBM (coal bed methane) at Barton Moss, there was no intention to test for shale gas. Yet now they say they've struck shale formations after completing exploration on the site. Drilling has now been suspended as samples taken from the drilling will now be analysed over the coming six months before the exploration firm will decide how to proceed. iGas and the council have lied to everytbody about their real intentions, Just as we knew they would.

They also said it was in the process of acquiring around 100 square kilometres of 3D seismic data in the north west of the country to determine where else to drill for shale gas. And went on to say ''We are pleased that the drilling has completed on time and on budget, We have worked extensively over the last few months with the various authorities to ensure the safety of everyone on and around site including protestors and neighbours''!

Barton Moss Anti-Fracking camp appeal set for July 2014!

Some great news for the protectors at Barton Moss Fracking site, The date for the Oral Hearing at the Court of Appeal has been set for ... Wednesday 16th July 2014! The 'Stay of Execution' will remain in force pending the outcome of this hearing! :)

As Ian Crane stated: ''The Camp won't be there in July ... there'll be nothing to evict! This Case applies to the EXISTING CAMP ... any FUTURE CAMP is a completely separate issue!''

This must be a massive thorn in the side to iGas, the GMP and Mr Whittaker. Lol

The Queen Leased Land To Fracking Company Third Energy.

The site near Malton in Yorkshire, has been leased by 'Her Most Excellent Majesty' to the shale gas company Third Energy. Third Energy has licences to explore large parts of the area around Malton with a view to fracking and is paying the Queen £15,000 a year for the site.
Third Energy got first-stage permission to drill two deep boreholes that would penetrate the shale in order to extract the gases.

E-Petition - Public vote to assess if fracking should continue, or a UK WIDE ban be passed

Camille Audsley has created a E-petition calling on the UK Government to make a moratorium until a NATIONAL PUBLIC VOTE is held on hydraulic fracturing (FRACKING) in the UK on 26.05.2014. To consider the alternative of GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMPS, thus accessing the SAME energy, but without bringing radioactive waste/ water above ground, putting chemicals into the ground, or bringing any posionous gases into the water/ecosystem that cause potential damage to humans/animals. Please refer to this page for more detailed proof of people affected from the fracking process. It's clear fracking is one of the governments main agenda's and they will literally do and say anything to get the gases out of the ground, Stop watching the media lies and do some research on fracking.

Stop insurers declining home insurance to people who live local to fracking sites, The government trying to allow corporations the right to break laws & planning permissions currently granted for fracking sites across the UK with no LOCAL PUBLIC consultation.
